Behind the structures and products we use in our everyday life, engineers must consider a myriad of details before building can commence. Considerations such as weather, budget, materials, and regulations all inform the process. Learn to think like an engineer and create 3D models for solutions to real world design challenges.

This engineering summer program for high school students doesn’t just tackle engineering and science fundamentals, it also challenges students to think critically and creatively about how to design innovative solutions to complex problems. We will explore facets of mechanical, structural, civil, and biomedical engineering in a hands-on, minds-on approach.

Learning Outcomes

  • Develop 3D solutions to design challenges to learn the fundamentals behind mechanical, civil, and biomedical engineering
  • Manufacture an artificial limb to replicate natural function and movement in real world situations
  • Design and build a scale model structure compliant with code, zoning, and budget requirements
  • Learn from professionals in the field about the latest advancements in engineering and technology
