Caryn Kseniya Rubanovich is a doctoral candidate in the SDSU/UC San Diego Joint Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology receiving research training under the mentorship of Dr. Cinnamon Bloss. She is the recipient of over 15 awards, honors, scholarships, and recognitions. Caryn’s research focuses on the ethical, legal, and social implications of emerging technologies in clinical care as well as the societal-level impact of technology more broadly. Most recently, she has been working on topics such as the psychosocial impacts of genetic ancestry testing; psychometric development and evaluation of a self-report measure of health information privacy; and empathic, compassionate, and socially just medical education and training. She received her M.S. in Narrative Medicine from Columbia University, and her A.B. in Anthropology from Washington University in St. Louis. In her free time, you can find her trying out a new recipe, sipping on a coffee, or posting on Bluesky as @MedEmpathy, a handle she founded aimed at “connecting clinicians, patients & caregivers, one story at a time.
