There is a growing literature in psychology and ethical philosophy on the impact of the ‘new’ interactive environment of social media. Of particular interest are two effects: (i) its effects upon us as individuals, and (ii) its effects upon our ability to relate to one another. In this psychology of social media workshop for high school students, we’ll come away with an appreciation of the psychological and social challenges with present trends which make online environments a primary place of human connection.
Examine and engage key ideas and studies regarding the emotions, ethics, and empathy required for healthy off-line conversation
