Course Overview

Students will learn firsthand from business veterans about starting and running a business. Over the course of the program, they will develop a plan for a new venture and pitch their idea to real world investors. Along the way, meet with leaders from different areas of business and finance.

Excursions at Georgetown – Last year students connected with a cutting-edge startup, visiting a dynamic maker space to explore its inner workings. They witnessed the creation process firsthand and learned about business operations.

This summer students will have the unique opportunity to meet with the founders and CEO of Dos Toros, exploring the intricacies of business operations. They’ll gain insight into expansion strategies firsthand at the new DC chain. With over 14 years of experience and 12 chains nationwide, Dos Toros promises invaluable insights into the world of entrepreneurship!

Session 1 Instructor

Kyle Bergman

Meet Kyle, the Chief Swoveralls Officer and founder of Swoveralls, a direct-to-consumer lifestyle brand dedicated to creating the world's comfiest apparel products from sustainably sourced materials. Kyle is a graduate of NYU's MBA program and holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Drexel University. Kyle's passion for entrepreneurship and sustainability led him to launch Swoveralls while pursuing his MBA at NYU Stern. Since then, he has been featured on Season 10 of Shark Tank. He has become an entrepreneur-in-residence at NYU's entrepreneurial institute, where he coaches and mentors various small businesses and founders. Kyle has also taught undergraduate management and supply chain courses at NYU's Tandon School of Engineering. Before launching Swoveralls, Kyle worked in corporate retail as a buyer and planner at Bloomingdale's and Birchbox. As a certified fitness professional and triathlon coach, he has also coached group fitness and private clients in NYC for over seven years.

Session 2 Instructor

Narie Foster

Narie Foster is an entrepreneur, investor, advisor, and executive coach, and a Venture Partner at JAZZ, a VC firm based in San Francisco. Previously, Narie co-founded M.M.LaFleur, a direct-to-consumer fashion brand, and spent five years as Chief Operating Officer, helping to grow the company to $75M in revenue, 200 employees, and Series B funding. Narie led the build-out of M.M.LaFleur's e-commerce, customer experience, fulfillment operations, software engineering, product management, people operations, and company culture. In 2016, she was selected as one of Forbes' 30 Under 30 in Retail & E-Commerce, and in 2017, M.M.LaFleur was #43 on Inc.'s list of the 5,000 fastest-growing private companies in America. Narie has been an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at MIT’s summer accelerator and a guest lecturer at Cornell University, Columbia Business School, the Wharton School, NYU Stern, Techstars, and the University of Edinburgh. Narie began her career as a management consultant at Bain and has a B.S. in Systems Engineering from Cornell University.
