- Creative Writing – Mark Twain House & Museum

The students in the creative writing program went on a behind the scenes tour of a national historic landmark, The Mark Twain House & Museum.

The Mark Twain House & Museum has restored the author’s Hartford, Connecticut, home, where the author and his family lived from 1874 to 1891.

Twain wrote his most important works during the years he lived there, including Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, and A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court.
- Beyond the tour, the museum offers activities and educational programs that illuminate Twain’s literary legacy and provide information about his life and times.

- Engineering & Innovation Track
- Students are building a scale model of a residence that complies with “Habitat for Humanity” residential code.
- They are also analyzing actual blueprints and timelines to plan for cost and efficiency of design.
- Medicine & Healthcare – Yale New Haven Hospital
- The medicine students had the opportunity to spend quality time inside the YNHH Emergency Department.
- The Emergency Department has a full range of specialists and equipment available 24 hours a day as well as educational, preventive and outreach programs designed to understand, treat and prevent the most serious of patient injuries.
- Evening Activities
- The students got the chance to climb up to the top of Harkness Tower to see amazing views of New Haven.
- The tower was constructed between 1917 and 1921 as part of the Memorial Quadrangle donated to Yale by Anna M. Harkness in honor of her recently deceased son, Charles William Harkness, an 1883 Yale graduate.
- Harkness Tower is 216 feet (66 m) tall, one foot for each year since Yale’s founding at the time it was built.
