Are you interested in empowerment and have a desire to effect change to make the world a better place? In this course students will discuss movements related to ethnicity, gender, race, and sexual orientation as well as investigate how these concepts influence human beliefs, perspectives and behaviors.
Students will learn to think critically about key social issues and understand how they can truly create a positive change in their own individual world and the world at large.
Introduction to the fundamentals of the U.S. legal system and overview of various specialties of law
Explore how existing laws are enforced (or not) and their equity and learn how you as an individual can affect change
Understand the relationship between the law, law enforcement and advocacy
Engage with professionals to learn about different career options from police officer to lawyer
