Dr. Busi Mombaur completed her medical training at the University of Cape Town in South Africa, followed by an internship at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, one of the largest hospitals in the world. During her internship, she gained hands-on experience in internal medicine, general surgery, and trauma, treating patients in a high-volume, resource-limited setting. She went on to specialize in adult neurology and worked in both the public and private sectors. As an attending neurologist at a community psychiatry hospital, she treated patients with comorbid psychiatric and neurological conditions, including HIV-related neurological disorders and neurodegenerative diseases within South Africa’s public healthcare system.
She later earned a Master of Public Health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, specializing in epidemiology and global health. Before medical school, she studied Biological Sciences at Wellesley College and spent two years working in the foundation sector in New York, where she focused on public health initiatives aimed at improving healthcare equity.
Dr. Mombaur has worked at the intersection of clinical neurology, research, and health policy, with a strong commitment to expanding access to neurological care in underserved communities. She is currently leading efforts to establish an Integrative Neurology Clinic in an underserved area of South Africa, integrating AI-driven diagnostics and community-based care to improve access to neurological services.
