Dr. Kuniko Ashizawa is a professorial lecturer at the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University, where she specializes in Asian politics and societies. Dr. Ashizawa has previously taught international relations courses at universities in the UK, Kosovo, and her home country, Japan. Her research interests include the USA and Japan/Asia relations, regional cooperation in Asia, and the role of international organizations in global governance. She has authored numerous academic journal articles, book chapters, and single-authored books on these topics. Her fieldwork has taken her from Afghanistan to Geneva, conducting interviews with policymakers, diplomats, and officials from major international organizations, including the United Nations. In addition to her academic roles, Dr. Ashizawa has been a visiting fellow at prestigious institutions, including the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars and the East-West Center in Washington. She earned her Ph.D. in international relations from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. With her broad teaching experience and deep expertise, Dr. Ashizawa provides students with invaluable perspectives on the complexities of international affairs.
