Course Overview
This program provides middle school students interested in pursuing medicine with real hands-on experience where they can build a set of medical skills at an early age.
Imagine being able to set a splint, stop a bleed, and perform CPR as a middle school student! Students will learn medical techniques through age-appropriate simulations and guided lessons. In addition, they’ll work with small groups to research a patient’s history and symptoms, create a diagnosis based on findings, and develop a treatment plan.
Excursions at Yale include: Fairfield University. Their state-of-the-art center promotes the acquisition of basic and advanced clinical skills that are essential for medical students and residents to master. In addition, students will enjoy a day of fun at Six Flags New England with over 100 rides, shows, and attractions.
The Middle School programs operate separately from Summer Springboard high school programs with separate staff, accommodations, schedules, classes, activities, and a more structured environment.

Career Exploration
Students will visit the Fairfield’s Egan School Simulation Lab. With a long history of preparing men and women for careers in the expanding fields of medicine and health studies and ranked as one of the nation’s best nursing schools, the new center opened in Fall 2017. Rising to four floors, it expanded the University’s current facility to over 70,000 square feet, four times the size of the previous facility. The new building features a state-of-the-art simulation center, advanced learning environments and equipment, including enhanced clinical settings and workspaces like the anesthesia simulation room, a control room and modern labs.
