The Summer Springboard program at UCLA is off to an exciting start! The students began with a successful check-in and are diving into their classes with enthusiasm. They’ve already had a blast exploring the campus and surrounding areas, including a special stop at the famous In-N-Out Burger. They’re now looking forward to the rest of the session, eager for more learning and fun experiences ahead.

BLOG POST FOR JULY 2

We’re now in our second week at UCLA, and classes are in full swing! Students have settled into their routines, enjoying a variety of social activities that help them bond and get to know each other. It’s incredible to see friendships forming among students from all around the world.

This past Wednesday, we had our first set of class excursions, and they were a blast! Our aerospace students visited NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. They had the unique opportunity to learn from the scientists and engineers who are at the forefront of some of the most exciting space programs.

The filmmaking class went on an in-depth tour of Warner Brothers Studio. They got a behind-the-scenes look at the sets, props, and departments that bring their favorite movies to life.

The emergency medicine students had a visit from a real ambulance team. They explored the ins and outs of the vehicle, talked with practicing EMS workers, and even practiced a crisis scenario with realistic (and terrifying for the staff!) injury makeup.

The business and entrepreneurship class visited the House of Mosaic Workshop, a small business focused on DIY arts and crafts. Students spoke with the owners about their business journey, participated in the day-to-day business model, and even made their own candles.

Our sports management group toured Pasadena’s famous Rose Bowl Stadium, home of the annual Rose Bowl Game. They learned about the history and significance of this iconic sports venue.

Students in the psychology and neuroscience class visited USC’s Dornsife Cognitive Neuroscience Imaging Center. They saw state-of-the-art equipment and met doctors working on cutting-edge science.

The criminal and forensic studies group visited the Beverly Hills Police Department Crime Lab, where they learned about various forensic techniques and got a glimpse into the world of criminal investigations.

In the evenings, our resident students have been busy with activities like paint nights, photo scavenger hunts, game nights, and more. It’s been a fantastic way for them to unwind and enjoy each other’s company after a day of learning.

Last weekend, we had an adventure-filled tour of Los Angeles, visiting iconic places like Rodeo Drive, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Griffith Observatory, and the Hollywood Sign. On Sunday, we headed to the Santa Monica Pier to explore, enjoy the ocean breeze, and ride the attractions at Pacific Park. It was a weekend packed with fun and discovery!
