A medical program for teens on a university campus in Cambridge, MA
Are you thinking about a future in medicine but aren’t sure which path to take? This immersive program is designed to help you explore the wide range of medical specialties, from cardiology and radiology to orthopedics and beyond. You’ll gain insight into the medical school admissions process, entrance exam prep, and residency planning, all while developing your understanding of the vital role curiosity and scientific research play in a medical career. You’ll also interact with doctors, residents, and medical students who can offer real-world insights into the profession.
Students in the Boston program enjoy hands-on experiences at the STRATUS Center (a simulation center affiliated with Harvard Medical School) and at Boston University School of Medicine, where they meet with admissions officials and tour the campus. Through rotations in various disciplines, you’ll explore emerging medical issues, engage in research, and begin identifying areas of interest. This program offers a unique opportunity to step into the world of medicine and start shaping your future path.

Hands-on Learning
Experience hands-on learning through immersive activities that bring medicine to life. In this program, students train in the STRATUS Center, a state-of-the-art simulation facility, where they practice clinical skills in realistic scenarios. Students will also visit Boston University School of Medicine, meet with admissions officials, and tour the campus. Through rotations in various medical specialties and interactive sessions with professionals, you’ll gain practical exposure to the daily work of doctors and begin exploring your own path in the medical field.
Career Exploration
Discover the many career paths within the medical field through in-depth exploration and real-world experiences. This program introduces students to a variety of specialties—such as cardiology, radiology, and orthopedics—while offering insight into the day-to-day responsibilities of healthcare professionals. By interacting with doctors, medical students, and residents, you’ll gain a clearer understanding of what each role entails and begin identifying which areas align with your interests and goals for the future.

Meet Your Instructor
Dr. Eyre serves as the Medical Director for the STRATUS Center for Medical Simulation at BWH, where he is also a practicing emergency medicine physician. Throughout his career, Dr. Eyre has held a variety of leadership roles in medical education at both Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, including serving as the Assistant Program Director for HAEMR. Dr. Eyre has received numerous awards for teaching and education, including the Brigham and Women’s Hospital Bernard Lown Award for Excellence in Teaching. In addition to medical simulation, Dr. Eyre’s academic interests include international medical education, curriculum design, and procedure education.
Dr. Kivlehan is an emergency physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Harvard Medical School, and Assistant Professor of Global Health and Population at the Harvard Chan School of Public Health. He also serves as the director of the Global Emergency Medicine Fellowship at the Brigham, director of the Lavine Family Humanitarian Studies Initiative at Harvard, and director of the Emergency Health Systems Program at the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative.
