About This Course

A medical program for teens in Oxford, United Kingdom.

Summer Springboard offers students a comprehensive and immersive introduction to the medical and healthcare field through hands-on projects and real-world simulations—all within a dynamic one-week format. Students build foundational clinical skills by learning how to take vital signs, perform CPR, and apply key wilderness medicine techniques. They also visit a simulation lab where medical students and faculty are trained and evaluated, gaining firsthand insight into the tools and environments used in professional medical education.

Midweek, students put their skills into action during a simulated mass casualty incident, where they must triage, diagnose, and stabilize victims in a high-pressure scenario. This experiential learning approach allows students to actively engage with complex medical situations while instructors introduce the underlying theories and clinical concepts. As students work to support and treat their patients, they develop critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills essential in the medical field.

“I was a part of the Emergency Medicine course, and I’ve found myself using the different skills that I’ve learned, even in different subjects. I’ve used suture knots in my art and bio classes. I’ve helped other people make basic decisions if something hurts based off what I learned. It was a really valuable experience.”

“The Emergency Medicine Track 100% confirmed that science is what I want to study in college, and that I want to be on the Pre-Med track. I did in fact mention the program in my application more than once. I made sure to include it in my activities section as well as two essays for two different colleges.”
