Academic Courses

Middle School Business & Entrepreneurship

Students in this program will become part of a new company they devise and will work in teams on various aspects of the new business. They will dive into the world of business and learn how companies work.

Students will explore the secrets of making things, telling people about them, and selling them. They will get a chance to hear stories from entrepreneurs who have started small and made it big. The program culminates in a Shark Tank-style pitch presentation.

Middle School Fundamentals of Engineering

This one-week course provides aspiring students with an exciting introduction to the world of engineering through hands-on projects and creative problem-solving.

Each day explores a different branch of engineering, as students use everyday materials to design, build, and test prototypes. By the end, they gain key STEM skills and the confidence to see themselves as future innovators.

Middle School Game Design

This commuter program gives students a behind-the-scenes look at game design through a visit to the NYU Game Center. They’ll explore how storytelling, coding, art, and sound come together to create immersive games, while learning about NYC’s role in major game development.

Students will also discover how games impact entertainment, education, and culture, gaining insight into careers in game design, animation, and interactive media.

Middle School Junior Architect

The Junior Architect commuter program introduces students to architecture through NYC’s diverse urban landscape. They’ll explore design principles, sustainability, and the connection between architecture, culture, and community.

Armed with sketchbooks, students will explore the city, analyze real-world structures, and create their own design projects. Through hands-on sketching and fieldwork, they’ll build spatial awareness and express their unique architectural vision.

Middle School Junior Diplomat

The Junior Diplomat program introduces middle schoolers to the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals through simulations, role-playing, and team challenges that build skills in negotiation and critical thinking.

Students explore real-world global issues, create a new SDG for the post-2030 era, and present their ideas at a final Global Summit, gaining insight into how they can make a difference as future changemakers.

Middle School Medicine

This program provides middle school students interested in pursuing medicine with real hands-on experience where they can build a set of medical skills at an early age.

Imagine being able to set a splint, stop a bleed, and perform CPR as a middle school student! Students will learn medical techniques through age-appropriate simulations and guided lessons. In addition, they’ll work with small groups to research a patient’s history and symptoms, create a diagnosis based on findings, and develop a treatment plan.

Middle School Software Engineering

In this hands-on program, students will design and simulate their own “Smart City” using coding and software engineering principles. Inspired by NYC, they’ll tackle real-world urban challenges in transportation, energy, and sustainability.

Through team projects, students will apply coding logic, test solutions, and practice agile-style collaboration, building both technical and communication skills to present their Smart City at a final showcase.

Middle School Trial Law

This program introduces students to vital techniques that are used by trial lawyers throughout the United States. Real world experts will share their knowledge about Trial Law and students will hear the inside scoop on law school and the admissions process.
