About This Course

Social Entrepreneurship & Innovation: Building on Business & Entrepreneurship Online, this advanced course challenges students to think like changemakers. Through systems thinking, design innovation, and marketing strategy aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, students tackle real-world challenges. Using a green business simulation, teams manage a sustainable company and see how strategic choices balance the triple bottom line — people, planet, and profit. The course ends with a team venture pitch showcasing creative, data-driven solutions for impact.

Who is it for?

Ambitious high schoolers entering 9th–12th grade in Fall 2025 who have completed Business & Entrepreneurship Online (or an equivalent) are encouraged to apply. This course is ideal for students who want to go beyond profit-first startups to design ventures that deliver measurable social or environmental impact — perfect for future founders, changemakers, and innovators. Space is limited: this session is capped at 35 students.

How is it done?

Classes will be held via Zoom and facilitated in real-time by the instructor and a classroom coordinator.

TOPICS YOU'LL EXPLORE

Learn by Doing

Students run a social enterprise in a sustainability-focused business simulation, making strategic decisions that balance people, planet, and profit. They design ventures that generate measurable social and environmental impact, applying marketing and business strategy in mission-driven, real-world contexts. Along the way, students practice data-driven decision-making as they navigate trade-offs in a triple-bottom-line environment, where success means creating value for communities, the planet, and long-term sustainability.

Build the Impact Toolkit

Students form teams to create their own ventures and measure impact using real frameworks — from Theory of Change to impact metrics and social ROI — while receiving direct mentorship and feedback from entrepreneurs and industry experts. Through guided, hands-on practice, they develop the tools, frameworks, and confidence to lead purpose-driven initiatives, culminating in a final pitch to a panel of experts.

“I liked the simulation and the exposure to this field. The simulation proved to test critical thinking problem solving skills within me, and the exposure showed me what a snippet of college would look like.”
