About This Course
The Web Development program at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo offers a two‑week intensive immersion into the fundamentals of building modern websites.
Web Development explores the development of websites in a client-based scenario. In this course, students will use a variety of web development production tools and processes, following the best practices in the industry, to build websites that are accessible, user-friendly, and responsive for usability on different devices.
TOPICS YOU'LL EXPLORE
Hands-on Learning
Group and individual activities will guide the exploration process, and students will exhibit learned skills through developing their own basic website in which they will upload files and generate a URL for sharing with others.
Career Exploration
Students will discuss the ever-evolving profession of web development and what it takes to become a professional.

Meet Your Instructor
April Elliott earned her Master of Arts in Education with specialization in Curriculum and Instruction and her BS in Graphic Communication with concentration in Web and Digital Media from Cal Poly. She also holds a Master of Science in Technical Communication from Arizona State University. April’s specialty is graphic design using the Adobe Creative Suite. She has worked as a graphic designer designing the graphics for screen printing and embroidery at J. Carroll Corporation. She currently teaches Digital Publishing Systems, Applied Social Media, Digital Portfolio, and labs for Marketing and Sales.
