BLOG POST FOR JULY 8

The next generation of business leaders has landed at the Foster School of Business!

Our Summer Springboard students arrived in Seattle, ready to kick off two high-impact weeks of business, leadership and big ideas at the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business.

From the moment they stepped onto campus, the energy was electric: students settling into dorm life, meeting their mentors and future collaborators, and already starting to network like pros. With stunning views, vibrant city life and the prestige of Foster all around, this program is off to a fast and exciting start.

What’s ahead? Think hands-on business simulations, leadership challenges, and insider insights from some of Seattle’s most innovative companies. Students will dive deep into core business concepts, develop their own entrepreneurial mindset and discover what it really means to lead with purpose.

From classroom collaboration to real-world inspiration, this group is ready to dream big, think boldly, and make their mark. The journey has just begun, and we can’t wait to see where it takes them.

Here are some highlights from the start of the program:

  • We welcomed 84 excited students to the start of our Foster Business and Leadership Program!
  • We had a smooth check-in process for both residential and commuter students from all over the world, including Taiwan.
  • Residential students settled into their dorm rooms at Spratlen Hall and we had a great orientation kick-off in Founders Hall, one of the classroom buildings for Foster.
  • We “broke the ice” with a fun game of “I’m your biggest fan” rock, paper, scissors whole group match!
  • Students enjoyed getting to know their mentors and fellow students during mentor group meet up!

BLOG POST FOR JULY 10

Week 1 at UW Foster School of Business could be summed up like this: strong start, big momentum!

Our students just wrapped an energizing first week full of fresh ideas, real challenges and new connections. The first True You workshop helped them uncover their strengths and passions as they dive into their college and career journeys. In the Business & Leadership course, hands-on projects and dynamic discussions got everyone thinking critically and sharpening their leadership skills.

Excursions this week provided valuable opportunities to explore beyond the classroom, whether through academic visits or engaging group activities around campus and Seattle. The group is settling in, energized, and ready for what’s next.

With Week 2 on the horizon, even more learning, growth and leadership moments await. We’re excited to see these future leaders in action!

Here are some highlights from the first week of the program:

  • UW Foster students had a wonderful trip to Nike World Headquarters in Oregon, where they had an informative tour and participated in an interactive Q&A with Nike Senior Directors.
  • Students participated in a fun group activity of visiting and exploring U Village with their mentors and fellow students.
  • We had a fun kick-out to evening clubs, with students choosing between a variety of club offerings including U Sports, U Explorer, U, Fellowship and College Readiness.
  • Students learned about different communication styles, strategic management, and marketing strategies during their UW Foster academic classes this week.
  • Students are looking forward to enjoying Friday afternoon activities at Husky Hub and hanging out with their mentors and fellow students.
