- Learn emergency medicine techniques like CPR, splinting, and suturing in hands-on simulations.
- Diagnose and treat simulated patients in team-based scenarios.
- Experience a “mass casualty” triage in a simulated emergency room.
- Gain behind-the-scenes insights into emergency rooms and ambulance operations.
- Achieve CPR certification and learn Basic Life Support (BLS) skills.
- Explore the cutting-edge Mount Sinai Simulation Center and see how medical training prepares real NYC doctors.

About This Course
This commuter program in NYC provides middle school students interested in medicine with real hands-on experience, giving them the chance to build a set of medical skills at an early age.
Imagine being able to set a splint, stop a bleed, and perform CPR, all as a middle school student! Students will learn medical techniques through age-appropriate simulations and guided lessons. They’ll also work in small groups to research a patient’s history and symptoms, make a diagnosis, and develop a treatment plan, gaining a true taste of what it’s like to work in a hospital setting.

Hands-on Learning
Students will have the opportunity to engage with leading emergency medicine specialists. During academic excursions, guest speakers will share their wealth of knowledge and encourage career exploration.
