Business & Entrepreneurship

Students will gain firsthand insight from experienced business professionals on how to start and run a successful venture. Throughout the program, they’ll create a business plan for a new idea and present their pitch to real-world investors. Along the way, they’ll meet with leaders across various sectors of business and finance.

At Georgetown, students have previously taken part in engaging excursions, including visits to innovative startups and maker spaces. These immersive experiences allowed them to explore how businesses operate behind the scenes and observe the product creation process in action, offering valuable lessons in entrepreneurship and innovation.

Emergency Medicine

Our summer medical program for high school students offers a comprehensive introduction to the world of medicine and healthcare. Through hands-on projects and immersive simulations, students gain a well-rounded understanding of the field, developing practical skills and exploring various medical career paths.

As part of the program, students take part in exclusive excursions, including visits to the state-of-the-art Simulation Center at Trinity Washington University. There, they experience real-world medical training through high-fidelity simulations in emergency, maternity, pediatric, and adult care. The center also features specialized instruction in CPR and physical therapy techniques, giving students a firsthand look at the same training used by current medical and nursing students.

International Relations

Are you curious about how the world works, what drives conflict, and how peace is achieved? This summer, dive into the world of international affairs by exploring global politics, diplomacy, human rights, environmental issues, and more. You’ll gain insight into the social and historical forces shaping our world today. In the past, students visited the Eisenhower Executive Office Building on the White House campus and took part in a dynamic roundtable discussion with esteemed leaders.

Students will learn to address global issues by investigating and researching the relationships between various nation-states, cultures, and intergovernmental organizations such as the United Nations, and other NGOs. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to participate in a Model UN simulation and receive feedback from professionals in the field.

Physics & Quantum Computing

Quantum computing is poised to transform technology over the next decade by tackling problems far beyond the reach of classical computers. This rapidly advancing field harnesses the unique properties of quantum mechanics, once purely theoretical, to develop powerful new tools. Companies like IBM are at the forefront, building superconducting quantum processors that promise to reshape industries through unprecedented speed and computational capacity.

This course prepares students to be part of that transformation by introducing the core principles of quantum computing, including superposition and entanglement. With a curriculum crafted by top experts from academia and industry, students will explore quantum phenomena and their practical applications, gaining the foundational skills needed to thrive in this cutting-edge field.

Neurobiology

This course provides students with a thorough introduction to neurobiology and the interdisciplinary field of neuroscience, focusing on the brain and nervous system. Through lectures, interactive discussions, and hands-on activities, students will explore how the nervous system controls thought, action, and emotion. By examining molecular and cellular mechanisms, neural circuits, and developmental processes, students will gain insight into both normal behavior and the effects of brain injury and disease.

In addition to building a strong foundation in neurobiological principles, the course also highlights the broad career opportunities in the field. Students will explore potential paths in academic research, biotechnology, drug discovery, clinical medicine, biomedical engineering, neuroinformatics, and more, opening doors to a wide range of future possibilities in neuroscience.

Trial Law

This program gives students an inside look at the essential techniques used by trial lawyers across the United States. Guided by real-world legal experts, students will learn about the practice of Trial Law while also gaining valuable insight into law school and the admissions process.

As part of the experience, students will explore the legal system up close through visits to key institutions. They’ll observe live trials at the D.C. Superior Court, tour the prestigious American University Washington College of Law, and visit a Maryland courthouse. These excursions offer a unique opportunity to witness the justice system in action and deepen their understanding of the legal field.
