Summer Springboard has kicked off on the campus of Barnard College, Columbia University!

Students arrived on campus, settling into residences and meeting their roommates and mentors, as they prepare for two weeks of immersive learning and new connections. Nestled in the heart of New York City, Barnard’s vibrant campus offers the perfect backdrop for curiosity, creativity and growth. Already, students are making friends and getting comfortable, energized by the unique blend of college life and city excitement.

Over the coming weeks, students will dive into hands-on academic courses, explore the city through exciting excursions, and engage in True You sessions designed to inspire self-discovery and personal development. 

Whether collaborating in classrooms or soaking up the energy of NYC, this group is ready to embrace every opportunity and make the most of their Summer Springboard experience. We’re excited to see what’s next!

BLOG POST FOR JULY 10

Week 1 at Barnard College can be summed up like this: What a fantastic start!

Students just wrapped an exciting first week full of discovery, creativity and connection. From diving into hands-on academic courses to kicking off their first True You workshop, they’ve been busy exploring new ideas and uncovering what truly drives them. 

The energy on campus is contagious as students build friendships, challenge themselves and soak in the vibrant spirit of New York City right outside their doorstep.

Excursions this week took the group beyond the classroom, and engaging in group activities sparked laughter and teamwork. It’s been incredible to watch students grow more confident, curious and connected every day.

With Week 2 just around the corner, the excitement is building even more. There are new courses to tackle, deeper self-discovery to dive into, and plenty more unforgettable experiences waiting. This summer is shaping up to be one for the books, and we can’t wait to see what comes next!

Here are some highlights from the first week of the program:

• We kicked off our very first session in the best way possible—with an amazing group of students!
• The students split into groups, and we kicked things off with some fun introductory activities to help everyone get to know each other.
• The FIFA World Cup excitement has reached Summer Springboard too! Students came together to watch the matches, cheer for their favorite teams, and enjoy the incredible atmosphere.
• The students presented their group posters and proudly performed the team chant that represents their group. It was a fun and energetic way to showcase their creativity and team spirit!
• As part of the New York Exploration Club, we visited the iconic Central Park. It was a great opportunity to explore one of New York City’s most famous landmarks while enjoying the beautiful scenery and spending time together.

That’s a wrap on a memorable Summer Springboard experience!

What a journey it’s been on campus. After two incredible weeks of hands-on academic courses, inspiring True You workshops and adventurous weekend excursions, our students have crossed the finish line of an unforgettable Summer Springboard program. They’ve explored new ideas, challenged themselves and made friendships that will last long after they leave campus.

Throughout the program, students gained valuable insight into their college major interests and career aspirations, while reflecting on the kind of learners and future professionals they want to become. From engaging classroom discussions to real-world experiences beyond campus, this summer has been all about growth, discovery and setting the foundation for what’s next.

We’re so proud of everything they’ve accomplished and can’t wait to see where their journeys take them. Here’s to new beginnings and exciting futures ahead!

Here are some highlights from the program:

• Our SSB students enjoyed exciting excursions filled with exploration, laughter, and unforgettable memories!
• We had an adventure at RISE NY, a fun and interactive museum that celebrates the history, culture, and energy of New York City. Students explored the different exhibits, participated in interactive activities, and learned more about what makes New York such a special place.
• We also headed to Times Square, where students had the opportunity to explore the area, take in the bright lights, and do a little shopping. It was exciting to experience one of New York City’s most famous locations together!
• Back at Barnard students enjoyed a fun karaoke session. They sang their favorite songs, cheered one another on, and shared plenty of laughs!
