Foundational Robotics at UC San Diego
- Build your own robot! Design, construct, and program your very own robot, watching your creation come to life before your eyes.
- Tackle challenges that roboticists face every day such as navigation and obstacle avoidance to object manipulation while further developing your critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Gain proficiency in programming, 3D design, and teamwork skills.
- Learn about the ethical implications of robotics in preparation for becoming a responsible tech leader of tomorrow.

About This Course
Summer Springboard’s course in Robotics offers students the opportunity to dive into the exciting world of intelligent machines. Students will build their own robots from scratch, gaining hands-on experience with microcontrollers, sensors, and artificial intelligence. This program will challenge students to solve real-world problems with the use of robotics, foster critical thinking and innovation. Students will progress from basic electronics to advanced concepts like machine learning while developing a strong foundation in robotics. Beyond the technical skills, students will be equipped with future-ready understanding of programming, 3D design, and teamwork, while also exploring the ethical implications of robotics.
TOPICS YOU'LL EXPLORE
Hands-on Learning
Students will have the opportunity to visit and interact with professionals in the robotics industry in the San Diego.
Career Exploration
Throughout the program, students will explore diverse career pathways in robotics and artificial intelligence. They’ll develop essential soft skills — including teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving — through hands-on, project-based learning. Additionally, students will gain insights into the ethical implications and emerging trends in the rapidly evolving field of robotics.
