Surgery
Meet Your Instructor
The Surgery course at Berkeley is being designed and coordinated by Dr. Anna Zhao, a general surgery resident at UCSF, with additional instruction provided by residents in various surgical specialties to provide a greater breadth of knowledge and experience. Dr. Zhao grew up in Michigan and the East Coast (NJ, MA, CT, NY), but chose to come to beautiful San Francisco for residency due to the high quality of training and pediatric surgery faculty here at UCSF. On her journey to surgery, she also worked as a high school biology teacher in the Bronx and obtained her MBA. She loves working with students of all ages! She never wanted to go into surgery until her third year of medical school, but clearly that changed and she is excited to show everyone why surgery is an amazing specialty to pursue.
DR. ANNA ZHAO

“Summer Springboard did not only prepare me for a career but also the real world while leaving time to make life long friends and having fun.”
