Course Overview

Students will learn the fundamentals such as drafting, color theory, and materials, the course takes a practical approach by starting with a topic close to everyone’s heart – home. Through hands-on projects focused on apartment/home design, students will gain insights into furniture dynamics, spatial flow, and the psychology of interior spaces.

Participants will develop a comprehensive understanding of furniture and fabric, along with the ability to strategically layout a room.

Earn College Credits: Seize the chance to earn one college credit applicable towards an undergraduate degree at NYSID or for inclusion in your future college applications.

Classes will be at the New York School of Interior Design, housing will be located at Fordham University – Lincoln Center campus.

Topics you'll explore

Course Structure


There are nine 3-hour class sessions over the two-week course. During week one, students have class from 9am-12pm, Monday - Friday. During week two students have class from 9am-12pm Monday through Thursday. Wednesday afternoons are dedicated to additional academic time (excursions, speakers).

Real World Insight


Visit showrooms, commercial design firms, and various design centers. Engage in hands-on work within a studio setting, and have the opportunity to hear insights from professionals in the field.
